The Columbia Borough Board of School Directors provides funding for 11 varsity sports and a total of 29 teams competing at the varsity, junior varsity, junior high, and junior high junior varsity levels. Columbia Jr./Sr. High School is a member of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (P.I.A.A.) and the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
The Columbia Borough Board of School Directors recognizes the value of a program of interscholastic athletics as an integral part of the total school experience for all district students and as a conduit for community involvement. The first and foremost purpose of the Columbia Borough School District is to provide the best education for all of our students. Athletics are an extension of the academic curriculum. Athletics contribute to the physical, social, emotional and moral development of the students involved. In accordance with law and regulations, it shall be the policy of the Board to offer male and female students equal opportunities for participation in interscholastic athletic programs as is
practical and without discrimination.
Since it is a privilege to participate on extracurricular teams, each student athlete carries with them responsibilities and expectations set forth by the P.I.A.A. and the Columbia Borough Board of School Directors. These responsibilities and expectations can be found in the Constitution of the P.I.A.A., the Columbia Borough School District Policy Manual, and the Crimson Code of Conduct.
The Columbia Borough School District and the community of Columbia take great pride in our athletic teams. Numerous Columbia teams as well as individual student athletes have had tremendous success at the League, District, and State levels of competition. It is the school district's goal to develop highly competitive athletes without losing sight of the educational process and its values of sportsmanship, health, and scholastic achievement. It is our hope to develop a lifelong interest in education as well as sports.
